Since opening at Colwick Park in 1980, Nottingham Greyhound Stadium has established itself as one of Britain's premier greyhound racing venues. Built on land adjoining Nottingham Racecourse, the stadium quickly became a home for top-class racing, with Tartan Al winning the first race at the new track.
Over the years, Nottingham has hosted some of the sport's most prestigious competitions, including the Eclipse Stakes, Select Stakes and Puppy Classic. In 2019, the stadium was chosen to host the English Greyhound Derby, the most famous race in British greyhound racing, with Priceless Blake lifting the trophy and claiming the £100,000 winner's prize.
The stadium has also been associated with some of the sport's biggest names. Legendary trainer Charlie Lister was part of the original training ranks at Nottingham and went on to enjoy Derby success with the famous Some Picture, who won the English Greyhound Derby in 1997 and helped cement Nottingham's reputation as a venue for champions.
Today, Nottingham Greyhound Stadium remains one of the UK's leading greyhound racing venues, continuing a proud tradition of delivering top-class racing and memorable nights out for racegoers across the Midlands.
