Nottingham Greyhound Stadium has unveiled grand plans to celebrate National Greyhound Week this month with a bumper programme of family friendly trackside fun.
The Colwick Park venue will kick-off the fourth annual celebration of the greyhound by handing out 200 free admission tickets to its Friday evening fixture on August 28.
Focus then switches to Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, when the track hosts the Arena Racing Company Puppy Classic and Select Stakes finals – each worth £12,500 to the winner – where admission is free to all racegoers.
Children’s entertainment will keep the little ones entertained between races and there will be an opportunity for visitors to meet a selection of retired greyhounds which are in search of their forever home.
A one-off 20 per cent discount in the track’s Classics Restaurant will also apply on Bank Holiday Monday.
The track will also operate a dedicated Owners Night to thank those who invest in the sport with trophy presentations organised for each race.
David Evans, General Manager at Nottingham Stadium, plans for both fixtures to draw hundreds of new racegoers trackside.
“National Greyhound Week has been a great way for tracks across the UK to showcase our sport and celebrate everything greyhound related since its launch three years ago,” said Dave.
“We’re fortunate at Nottingham for the week to not only coincide with Bank Holiday Monday, but also our richest race night of the year featuring the Puppy Classic and Select Stakes.
“There is always a carnival atmosphere trackside, with locals taking full advantage of our free admission offer. And for those who book online in advance, we’ll add a welcome drink for each person on arrival too.
“It’s a great and cost friendly way of spending an evening with friends and for anyone yet to experience the thrill of the chase, National Greyhound Week presents the perfect opportunity.”
Details of the track's Family Fun Day on Friday, August 28, can be viewed online via www.nottingham-greyhounds.co.uk/whats-on/friday-28th-august-great-summer-raceday
Limited free admission tickets for the fixture are available to book now. Racing begins at 6.08pm, with doors opening at 5.30pm.
Admission is free to all racegoers on Bank Holiday Monday, with racing beginning at 6.37pm.
